Puff Pastry Roll with Apples and Raisins

Looking for a quick and easy dessert to suprise your mom?

Try this Puff Pastry Roll filled with Apples and Raisins. No, this is not my original recipe. I adapted this from the recipe of a popular Spanish chef Sergio Fernández who has a cooking segment in the TV show La Mañana de La 1. I adapted this recipe from their recipe.
Basically, their recipe called for apples, pears, nuts, vanilla and whipped cream for decoration. Mine has apples, raisins and cinnamon. While for the frosting, I used my italian meringue frosting.

You will need:
1 piece of puff pastry
2 small apples, diced
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
2 tablespoons white sugar

In a pan, sauteé the apples, raisins, cinnamon powder and white sugar. When done, set aside to cool down.

Take your puff pastry out of the freezer and defrost while the filling is cooling down.

Once the puff pastry is ready, spread the filling on top of it and roll it away from you. you have to start rolling from the side nearest you.

Bake in a pre-heated oven, at 170º for 15 minutes. If you want your puff pastry to get a golden color, brush it with one egg white in the middle of the baking process.

Once the puff pastry roll is already cold, you can proceed and decorate it with your chosen frosting. I used this meringue frosting recipe.

I used the extra meringue frosting to fill some vols-au-vent and some, I sprinkled with jimmies and sprinkles on top.

Or you can just store what was left of your frosting as it stores very well.

You can use the extra meringue frosting for your dinner's dessert or use it to ice your cake.

You can make the filling for this pastry roll ahead of time. Feel free to use different combinations of fresh and dried fruits!

Enjoy with your favorite coffee or tea!

UPDATE: 27/03/12
I made another batch of this recipe but this time, I used 1 diced apple, 1 diced pear, raisins, sugar and vanilla essence. I only used 2/3 of the puff pastry, though. The rest, I used for another recipe.

And to make it even more easier and quicker, I just dusted it with confectioner's sugar on top!

Affordable Accomodation in Paradise

If this is not paradise, I don't know what it is!

Does this make you wish you have your bathing suit, straw hat and sunglasses on, feet dipping in the cool and refreshing water while you're sipping your favorite drink?

Tranquil waters and white sands of sunny Mallorca

Many tourist would visit Mallorca every year. It's noo wonder that the top source of income of this island is its tourism. The whole island - except for Palma de Mallorca, the capital and Manacor and Inca, the two next largest cities - are buzzing with activity during the tourist season (April - November) while it stays calm and quiet for the rest of the year.

There are different places to see in Mallorca. For the young ones who likes the discos and pub crawls (Arenal), for the ones who likes to shop till they drop (Palma) or the ones who wants to unwind and just enjoy the beauty of nature. For those who like the beach, Platja de Muro is the best place for you. The tranquil waters and white sand of the Bahía de Alcúdia, the longest beachline of Mallorca lures everybody to go back again and again to the same place every year.

Although there are lots of hotels around the area, ranging from 3 stars to 5 stars hotels, and apart-hotels with the all-inclusive offer, there are still lots of people who opt to rent apartments or chalets - especially the beachfront properties.

We offer affordable accomodation on a weekly rate. Villa Portillo is located at the Urbanización de Platjas de Mallorca in Platja de Muro, in between two large hotel complex and just accross the S'albufera Natural Park.

Villa Portillo offers this first floor apartment with a living-dining room, a kitchen, a laundry room, a balcony, two double bedrooms, one single bedroom and a bathroom. It is fully furnished and equipped with a fireplace, air-conditioning, oven, stove, refrigerator, water heater, washing machine, etc.

Villa Portillo also has a ground floor house with a huge living and dining room with a fireplace and air-conditioning, a large fully-equipped kitchen and laundry room, one washroom, one large bathroom, one small and one large terraza and three double bedrooms.

There is wide garage and a garden with a see-saw, swing, slide (for those with small kids) and a barbecue area.

The garden is great for al fresco dining!

This villa is just a few steps away from the beach, separated from the beach by a protected "green zone".

the protected green zone

just a few steps away from the beach!

we've just reached our destination!

welcome to the lovely beach of Bahía d'Alcúdia!

Here are more photos of this beach!

We are located just right in the middle of the extensive Bahía d'Alcúdia.

Just a 10-minute walk away from the villa is the S'Albufera Natural Park.
And a 15-car drive away from the villa is the Puig San Martí which offers a great hiking trail and impressive views of the north of the island.

This villa is approximately 5 minutes (by car) away from Port d'Alcúdia, 5 minutes from C'an Picafort, 15 minutes from Alcúdia and 45 minutes from Palma.
Imagine yourself waking up in the morning, going to the beach after breakfast without having to travel - just a few steps away from your reach. That is LUXURY!

However, if you like the beach but still wants to be close to the "buzz" and "vibe" of the night life, we also offer a studio and a two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Pere Más i Reus or the commonly called "Dollar Street" in Port d'Alcúdia. It's situated above the White Rose Family Run Pub and Restaurant beside Rose's Return Pub. It's just a 5-minute walk from the beach.

For general inquiries, kindly contact us here by filling up this contact form. If you'd like to see the availability of the properties, go here. We will respond as soon as possible. And no worries, we've been renting these properties for so many years now and most, if not all, of our clients come back every year!

A lovely vacation shouldn't leave a hole in your pocket!
