Feature Post: Petite Hermine

I am so excited not because today's monday but because I will be featuring one of my bloggie buddies! She's Jen and she's the genius behind Petite Hermine, the blog
Petite Hermine

and the Etsy shop.

Jen is a Californian transplant currently living in a studio with her husband in New York. She misses the beautiful weather of California and can't wait to move back someday.

She enjoys reading (she could recommend some really good reads!), wearing jewelry (which is why she makes it), eating great food (which is why she loves to cook as well!), crafting in general, and having a good time with friends. She also read way too many articles on the internet so she is full of random knowledge.
Her shop is called Petite Hermine, which was inspired by her love of cute animals and her favorite book, Le Petit Prince. She's been fascinated with gemstones at a very young age.

"I remember the first time my mom took me to a flea market, I stayed at the booth of a New-Agey lady with a table full of crystals, looking through each one. Now I prefer wearing alluring gemstones combined with metals, whimsical charms, and other complimentary gemstones, which is what I try to bring to my customers as well."
Her blog, also called Petite Hermine, is where she shares her newest creations, promotions, and other amazing eye-candies she finds on Etsy and other places on the internet.

"It's where you can learn about some random, but interesting, information (that I picked up and thought was blog-worthy :), meet outstanding Etsy sellers through my features, and find giveaways, ramblings, and beautiful handmade creations (of course!)"

When asked where she sees herself in 10 years, she shares, "Hopefully playing with my kids and dogs, growing an awesome backyard vegetable garden, working on my crafting projects, and doing many other things somewhere in California."

I am sure I have left you wanting to see and know more about Jen. The best way to do so is hopping over her blog, visiting her shop, following her on Facebook, on tumblr, on pinterest and on twitter! And while you're at it, say Hi to her for us, will ya? ^^)

Thanks, Jen for letting us feature you, your blog and shop here in TSWL! ^^)

Have a nice monday Petite Hermine window shopping and blog browsing everyone!

Sprucing up your shop: How to create your own shop header

Disclaimer: I am no expert and all the things I will be sharing with you here is based on my own experience. My methods are easy-to-follow but not professional methods. So, follow at your own risk (just kidding!). Nah... really! ^^) I am sharing because it worked for me. And I hope it works for you, too!

How to create your own shop header

The steps to follow are almost the same as the steps in creating your own blog header, see tutorial here. In that previous tutorial, I showed you how to make your own header using your own photo collage. This time I will be showing you how to create a blog or shop header using a pre-designed background. You could also use this tutorial to make your blog header. I see no reason why you couldn't ^^)

So, on to the tutorial.

Open your Picasa, choose a background and edit it using Picnik. Click crop and crop desired area.

Click resize and resize your image. You can base your size on the list below:
Etsy shop banner: 760 x 100
DaWanda shop banner: 950 x 200
BigCartel shop banner: 740 px width, height can vary

As I am not sure what would be the best height size, I just checked keep proportions option. Click Accept.

Now, Click create tab so we can add our text/s. Type your text on the upper left box, choose your desired text font below it, and on the pop-up box on the right choose text color and size.

I saved mine as a different file/copy so I could still use the background for future use.

Go to your shop and upload your header. I used mine for my BigCartel shop.

Now, I have my new shop header! Neat!

I hope you like today's tutorial! ^^)

Enjoy your sunday, everyone!

We Love Handmade No. 7

It's handmade sunday time again!  And for our handmade post, as I have told you last sunday I have decided not just to post here my handmade weekly picks but I have also decided to create treasuries featuring our sponsors.

Why? Well, not everybody could see my blog post... if I create treasuries featuring my weekly picks there are more chances for people to see them.

Why? Not only do I create the treasuries but I also promote them through the weekly handmade blog post, twitter and seven (7) facebook pages (my personal pagetswl group page, tswl web page, arcoíris page, family business page, food galore group page and love for handmade page).

When I post them in our Love, Support and Promote Handmade page, I also tag different handmade pages so it would appear and be accesible from their own pages. We also have the Love for Handmade page here in our blog where people could easily find our handmade related posts including my treasuries!

I know, this entails more work for me but I enjoy what I'm doing. It isn't like work for me... It's actually fun! And this way, it won't be passive advertising here in our blog but an active advertising with promotion and support. I do offer to create shop/blog header and shop/blog button for my sponsor. And no, I don't charge for it. Giving or offering help makes me happy ^^)

Starting this sunday, our we love handmade post will consist of treasuries featuring all sponsors of this blog. I will be posting a photo of each treasury with the link so people could visit each treasury and comment. Who knows, we might make it to the front page!

So, on to our post!

*To our sponsors, if you were featured in one of the treasuries, I would really appreciate it if aside from commenting you also share and spread the love for handmade. Tweet, blog or facebook about it! Not obligatory, just a suggestion though. Thanks! ^^)

Treasury 5: Pretty in Pink

I really enjoyed creating each and all of these treasuries. And whenever I make treasuries *just because* I always try to include our sponsors in each treasury ^^)

But before I end this post, let me show you some handmade love!

Sima sent me a beautiful mum of two handstamped necklace personalized with my kids' birthstones! It is so lovely... the photo I've taken doesn't do justice... you should really see it in person!

I also got my very own Cherry Blossom Tattoo prints! I am having them custom-framed this week. The prints are gorgeous and the picture I took could not show you enough it's loveliness! I am hanging it in my craft room together with my limited Watercolorsbywayne print!

Thanks, Sima! Thanks, Carrie! Love you both! xoxo ^^)

I also received a great news. Beth of Sand to Pearl already received her Arcoíris owl plushie

and she commented:

So, yesterday I got the beautiful owl in the mail. WOW!! Being a do-it-yourself kind of gal I usually am bothered by problems with crafted and regular products, but wow, the owl is fantastic! Really, it's fantastic, you obviously put real time and energy into it, not just throwing it together and not caring if it looks nice. Now, I'm rethinking my choice of giving it to my friend for her upcoming baby. Thanks so much!!
I am so glad you like the owl, Beth! This really warmed my heart! ^^)
