My Other Pastime: Cross stitching

I actually learned to cross stitch way before I learned to sew! My first real cross stitch project was a Home Sweet Home pattern which I submitted for a T.H.E. project when I was about 9 years old.

I will show you today some of my cross stitched creations which are hung in my home here in Mallorca.

This is an angel with a baby on her arms, she's about 3 feet long and I created her when I was pregnant with my first-born. It took me about 6 months to finish her only because I was too tired and was almost always sleeping during the first trimester of my pregnancy! We used to hang this frame beside our babies' cribs but now, it adorns one of the walls of the master bedroom.

This was made by me while I was still 9 months pregnant with my first-born. My husband personally picked the pattern as this was originally thought to be hung in our princess' room. It took me about 2 weeks to finish this piece and I finished it just in time, a few days before I finally had my princess in my arms!

This last piece was picked and made by me when my princess was already about 3 to 4 months old. It took me about 1 month to finish it as I was busy learning the ropes of motherhood. I meant to make two of this and place each on each side of an alcove but I never got to making the second piece ^^)

I also made 4 mini framed cross stitched dog portraits for my mother-in-law's apartment. I also made one pink ballerina but left it in my parent's house and one minnie mouse for sister-in-law's daughter. I don't have photos of them, though...

I still hope that one day, I'd be able to do cross stitching again... Maybe, when time allows. I find it so relaxing.

Well, have a nice week ahead of you everyone!
And I hope you liked this craft I have shared with you ^^)

Weekend Craft Time with my Daughter

What do you do when both girls are bored and a glue gun is in sight?

Well... lots of hair accesories for the little girl of course!

Fabric yoyos made from scrap fabric

We repurposed some scraps (from old and unused clothes) and made fabric yoyos out of them and we turned them into these!

created lots of hair clips out of them!

We also had fun with felt...

Made some headbands with some felt and buttons

And we also made use of the ready made appliques and ribbons I had in my stash...

Made lots of headbands from appliques, bows out of ribbons and fabric yoyos with the help of my princess ^^)

Made lots of hairclips and some brooches and pigtails holder, too!

My little princess wass so happy with her so many hair accesories! She really likes to pick them out herself and coordinate with her outfit!

I hope you had a crafty saturday, everyone!
